Bock

If there's one style of record I have the most of for you this season, it's religious records. It seemed like two out of every three records I ripped were performed by some sort of religious organization. I don't think I finished processing all of those, so you're not going to get quite that many in the shares, but you're going to get a lot of them. And many of them are better than you think, even better than they have any right to be. I seem to recall hearing a Moog right in the middle of one recently, but for the life of me I can't remember which one it was. So if you're listening to a random record from me and you suddenly hear the electronic waverings of Robert Moog, don't say I didn't warn you. I don't think it's this record though, but you never know. This one is just organ music, so I won't claim it's anything special, but there's room for everything in my collection. This is Fred Bock-Upon A Midnight Clear (Impact R-3479, Stereo, 1977).

1. The First Noel
2. We Three Kings
3. It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
4. I Wonder As I Wander
5. Away In A Manger
6. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
7. Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming
8. O Holy Night
9. O Little Town of Bethlehem
10. Joy to the World!
11. Some Children See Him
12. Angels, We Have Heard on High
13. While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks
14. O Come, All Ye Faithful
15. Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne
16. Silent Night

  1. Hi Ernie,

Well what is Christmas music without organ music. If I know the words I sing to the songs. Brings back the only good memories I have from going to Catholic school and being in the school choir from grades 3-6. Than I rebelled, grade wise. Than back to public school and again in those choirs and my life blossened.
Anyway, I now have 8 folders set up with some of your shares in them. I even have a folder called Vanity. This will hold all those one off recorded Vanity albums, that do not really fit into another theme.
You always have surprises in store.
Maybe even a religious folk album or two.

    2. Well Ernie, I finally listen to this one. For me a winner. Brings back fond childhood memories.

  2. By the title of this one, I thought you were offering me a bock beer.

Come to think of it, I don't like bock beer. Could I have a Guinness, please?

  3. Thank you so much, Ernie. I love Fred Bock's organ music. I didn't realize that he had a Christmas Album out there. Again, you are the best in east, Ernie :)
Right now, my life is so busy... I have been downloading your albums but no time to convert to mp3 and onto my iTunes yet. I will get to them sometime :)

    1. Better find some time. The season will be over before you know it.

  4. Windows could not complete the extraction. The destination file could not be created. What? Talk about The Department Of Repetitive Redundancy Department. Tomorrow, I'll attempt extraction and see what happens. I enjoy good organ music, especially of the Hammond B3, etc, variety. I'm not a fan of pipe organs and the like. 'Til next, love and praying for y'all.

    1. Update, the extraction proved to fix the issue. I'll keep the ZIP, just in case I need it, someday, but will probably delete the new folder. 'Til next, love and praying for y'all.

    2. 7-Zip has worked everytime for me when I need to un-zip a folder.

    3. Glad you were able to make it work. Windows has never had a really reliable robust extraction process, that's why so many folks use an add-on like 7-Zip. It's an added step, but it works more often than not.

  5. I like to imagine that Fred Bock has a regular organ and an organ that's specifically for Christmas music.
