An Airy Christmas
I'm not the biggest fan of these slickly-produced records. I think I prefer the older single-microphone recorded live in performance records. But that's just me. I know the sound here is much better than on those older recordings and most people prefer a record that's easy to listen to. But something is lost when you get more than a single take. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with this record, I'm just sharing my opinion. This is Church Of The Savior Choir And Orchestra-Christmas In The Air! (Wayne Concert Series WCS 1283, Stereo, 1983). Enjoy! Oh, and they stole this title from Walter Schumann.

10. Of The Father's Love Begotten
11. How Should A King Come
12. The Blessed Son Of God
13. Become
14. O Come, Let Us Adore Him

11. How Should A King Come
12. The Blessed Son Of God
13. Become
14. O Come, Let Us Adore Him

I'm with you on the simple-is-best approach. But that is an impressive looking choir and orchestra on the cover.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive picture. People today can't appreciate how hard it was to get a good shot in the dark on film back then. :)
DeleteErnie, I am looking forward to this, slickly-produced record, as you have called it.
ReplyDeleteBut that tree, who the H!!! decorated that tree?
Twas the style of the time.
DeleteJust excellent. I could give a whole list of superlatives for this one, but I will not. It gets a 10+ out of 10. I only wish there were more like this in my own opinion.
DeleteGlad it meets with your approval. :)
DeleteThis is a great looking album, looks like it waill be an enjoyable listen, Ernie :)
ReplyDeleteGotta be careful not to judge an album by it's cover, but I'm sure it sounds good in this case. :)
