Not That Carthage
I thought it odd that one of the major cities of the millennium before Christmas became a thing would have recorded an album of Christmas music, and I was right to be suspicious. Turns out this Carthage is a liberal arts college in Kenosha, Wisconsin, affiliated with, you guessed it, the Lutherans, and has nothing at all to do with the city of Carthage in Tunisia. Thought maybe I had something there for a minute, but it's just another college choir doing their best. Still plenty here to enjoy though, so give it a listen. This is The Carthage College Choir-Christmas Music From Carthage (No Label S80-383-2148 (Kenosha, Wisconsin), Stereo, 1972). Nice cover!

I've been to the Tunisian Carthage. There's not much to see, other than what used to be people's floor mosaics in the grass. The place was pretty thoroughly destroyed a few times over the centuries.
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame. I guess all of our houses are doomed to something like that, or worse. :(
DeleteThose Lutherans are everywhere ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're the best, Ernie :)
I guess they really like to sing!
DeleteWell Ernie, as I cuddle up on the sofa, very ill, I am listening to this. I hope that when I am finally walking through the gates of Heaven, the heavenly choir, sounds as good as this choir does.
ReplyDeleteOh, as I have said, yes the Lutherans "can" sing. The few we had in the public Junior and Senior High school choirs I was in, were some of my closest choir mates.
However, only 1 or 2 of them belonged to the select cliques I was in, for obvious reasons.
Really a wonderful album.
Just think what everyone is missing for not staying around.
