Bob 4
The hits just keep coming, though this one comes a few years after all the others. Another share from 2008 though remastered from a new copy sometime more recently, this one features Bob at a new style organ and does overlap a bit with the earlier records. I suppose you get a new machine, you go back and see if you can do all your old favorites just a little bit better. I'm like that with a new camera, I have to go out and try all my favorite shooting sites and try to get better versions of my old favorite pictures. Give it a listen and see what you think. This is Bob Kames-Merry Christmas From Bob Kames And The New Hammond Organ X-66 (King 1039, Stereo, 1968).

ReplyDeleteI have noticed on many early shares, 2010 and before...at least, no comments. How sad. Did you not have many visitors in those early days? But then I only found you around 2019, and offered comments just a couple of years ago, so who am I to speak, I guess.
The longer I'm around, the more visitors I have and the more comments I get. Takes a long time to build an audience, and it ebbs and flows over the years either way. This has been a good year. :)
DeleteAs always Bob puts a lot into his playing and into the variety of music and songs he presents.
ReplyDeleteBut something seemed a little off on this one. Like Bob was a bit tired, or maybe I was a bit tired.
Anyway, nice selection.
He was older, and it's a very different organ.
Deletei wonder if he ever recorded using that 11,000.00 plus orgen he was selling.
DeleteDunno, but I don't think old organs have a lot of resale value.
DeleteNo, he had a massive retail store I guess, that sold Organs, and whatever.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a wee one, every mall had a store that sold organs. Some of them sold pianos as well, but their bread and butter seemed to be fancy organs that could generate a beat that allowed you to play along. There would always be a salesman out front playing the organ trying to draw in customers. I imagine that's a little bit like what his store was, only he had records and a career to draw in the crowds as well. A $10K organ was likely a showpiece for that one sucker who walked in with just a little too much money in his pocket.
