Easter Enoch

I've never had the opportunity to post a Christmas record on Easter before. It sort of bookends the two seasons, we started with the birth of Jesus, and we're still going on the day he came back from the dead. Well, we actually started on Thanksgiving, but that's too many holidays to try to bring together. My offering today is a record that I promised I'd share with you in a post of a 10" version of this record back on December 10th. Sorry I've not gotten to it until now, it's just not been at the forefront of my attention for some reason. It's an early recording that Enoch Light had a big hand in before he started his audiophile Command label. The music here really sounds like Christmas in the 1950's to me. The songs just sound like I imagine that time period to sound like. It's tough to explain, but give it a listen and maybe you'll understand what I mean. I don't know if it's the instrumentation, the recording techniques, the song selection, the vocal technique or a combination of all of the above and more, but it really makes me imagine I'm there in that time. These songs and these versions have really been through the wringer over the years, with many straight reissues coming out as well as many anonymous reissues where the names of these folks are deemed unimportant. Other than Enoch Light, these performers disappeared from our consciousness over the years, and that's a shame. There are lots of talented people at work here, and they made some good music.     Ernie, listen to the beginning of this track, Enoch Light Orchestra And Chorus-Christmas Has Come Again. You were meant to share this album on Easter day.
    It is a pity, Enoch did not share the proper credits on theses tracks. I will go ahead and make up a second copy of this album and do so.
    The trick is for the Jingle Bells track. The original credits are "way" too long.
    I tried locating this single on the internet, with no luck. I would like to hear its flip side.

    This 1955 vinyl release features Knuckles O'Toole’s honky-tonk piano with The Brigadiers and Dottie Evans with Enoch Light’s Orchestra, blending festive tunes with mid-1950s honky-tonk style.

    The record "The New Exciting Jingle Bells / The New Christmas Hit When Christmas Comes To Our House" was released in 1955 on vinyl, featuring Knuckles O'Toole his Honkey Tonk Piano & Orchestra with The Brigadiers on one side and Dottie Evans with Enoch Light His Orchestra And Chorus on the other. The A-side does not list a specific writing credit on the label. This release is part of the mid-1950s trend of honky-tonk piano recordings that combined lively piano with orchestral accompaniment.

      Knuckles O'Toole is Lou Busch, who was married to someone famous, I just can't think of her name at the moment... Some other singer, he arranged some of her music, I think.

    It has been a very busy Easter long weekend for my wife and I. In Canada, we celebrate "Good Friday", "Easter Sunday", and "Easter Monday." For the first time, in 16 years... I actually have both "Good Friday" and "Easter Monday" off, as stat days :)

    I probably already have at least the first 2 albums you shared today, but I will give them all a listen :)
