Super Saturday Salvation 3

Episode three, where we time travel back to 1969. We get to see Woodstock, the moon landing, The Beatles as they slowly get ready to disintegrate and this gem from The Salvation Army. The special guest today is Fred MacMurray, star of Flubber and My Three Sons, another show I used to watch in perpetual reruns as a child. This is Silent Night (Salvation Army Army Of Stars CPM 12-2652, Stereo, 1969). At least this edition gets a proper title. Not very descriptive, perhaps, but appropriate.

    Fred MacMurray was one of those underrated stars who was always welcome and enjoyable.

      Didn't he get hooked up with Disney at some point, too? I have the tickling of a memory but I can't pull it up...

      I'm having a hard time thinking of anything else he did outside of My Three Sons and Flubber. Surely he was working outside of that. I need to look him up.

    Ernie, this is one of the best up to this point.
    I was waiting for Junie to appear. Junie was his wife. June Haver, left Fox Studios to become a Nun, left the convent and returned to Fox Studios, left Fox Studios to marry Fred. Well something like this. She then basically semi-retired from active acting. A pity as from the few films I have seen her in, she was like a sweet Betty Grable type.
    Anyway, I hope at some point, they will have another album similar to this narrated one.

      They're hitting their stride here. Remember, this is based off of a radio program and was only slowly getting formatted more for a listen-at-home-over-and-over-again experience. So it keeps getting better as the years go on. And no sign of Junie...
