This is an outstanding item! Eddy sings one of his Christmas hits ("Will Santy Come to Shanty Town") but not "C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S." It's nice that the greetings cuts are followed by songs from the same artists.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the greetings aren't by the artist, though they might be here. A few of them will feature the songwriter or occasionally a friend of the artist. I guess it came down to the biggest get.
Deletemany thanks for the supremes and Mel Torme :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think you're going to see those two sharing any space on a Christmas record anywhere else. :)
DeleteErnie, what a beautiful voice Eddy has. It was nice to hear one of the best country backing group The Jordanaires with some mysterious female singers. Plus, this show seemed to be live performances, compared to studio recordings.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, what a let down side two was. Same old studio tracks we have heard before. But maybe, they were not so warn out and played out when this collection was released.
But side two was still a nice listen though.
Yes, the Jordanaires were great and should have recorded more music on their own. But I suppose being in the shadow of Elvis your entire career is not the worst place to be. They did record a Christmas LP right after Elvis' death as a tribute to him, but it's a pretty slapdash affair for a budget label. I don't think I've ever even listened to it. Probably should.
DeleteAnd side two is strictly for the repetitive celebrity introductions, the music is nothing special.
I thought I might have the mp3 of the Jordanaires Christmas album. I cannot find it in my person files or all the other folders.
ReplyDeleteokay, I too can be lazy. I need to organize these other folders into my personal folder. Did I say I was lazy...
I have the CD and the vinyl, haven't listened to either. Probably have the CD ripped to MP3 somewhere, too...
