I always love myself a good Organ & Chimes album, especially on this Boxing Day, which also happens to be my Mother and Father in laws Anniversary (they absolutely love Organ music) :)
ReplyDeleteMy in-laws anniversary is today (the 27th). Odd coincidence.
DeleteThis record looks like it is a Premier Records product; the label looks similar to the type that is found on Coronet albums of the period. Still, the lime green color on the label is a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteIt does, doesn't it. Need to do some more research to prove that connection.
DeleteThanks, Ernie! This is my first time ever hearing this album in stereo, sounds nice!
ReplyDeletePer Discogs, Buckingham was Norman Ward's label, and its only other release was another Christmas LP, credited to the Norman Ward Choraliers, titled "Merry Christmas." I've never heard it, but I've seen many copies on Ebay over the years. The cover and labels look early 1970s to me. (Do you have this one back in the archives?)
And who is Norman Ward? He managed to own his own label, and yet there is no info anywhere. Still more Xmas mystery!
Glad to help! :)
DeleteWell Ernie, no matter what city I have traveled to, when time allowed, I visited their well know Cathedrals and Churches. I have visited too many of them to remember, but I was in this one. I swear Norman was playing the organ there or maybe it was his ghost. It was in the early 2000s and again in the 2010s.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you have to be brought up in the Church I guess to really appreciate these as I do. I cannot say this about other people.
I have a sneaky suspicion that he never stepped one foot into this church. Call me a cynic, but that's my gut feel.
Deletehahaa, maybe the elusive John did.
