Time to head back to the MMS label for another 10" record. This one is Original Don Cossack Chorus-Russian Christmas-Carols, Hymns And Lenten Music (The Musical Masterpiece Society 10" 33 RPM MMS-69, Mono, 1954). As the subtitle mentions, this one is not all Christmas music, but I'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference. It's all very Russian to my ears with nary a familiar song to be found. Pretty sure these guys released more Christmas music later in their career, but I could be confusing them with some other Russian artists. Someone will tell me, I'm sure. And I see there was some old sticker left on this album cover that I couldn't clone out. Sorry about that. Enjoy!

    I've been looking at Don Cossack records my entire life, and I figured it's time I figured out who Serge Jaroff was. Turns out he was Russian, born in 1896 and founded the group over there. He came to the US after World War II.

      Everyone has a story. These guys (and Serge) seem to have been around forever. They may even still be around, though Serge is certainly no longer with us at this point.
