As promised, here's the third rendition of Dicken's Christmas Carol I've shared today and the one that I was the most excited to find. This one was recorded (mostly) at my alma mater, the University of Florida, by a longtime professor and dean. He was long gone by the time I got there, but it's still pretty neat to have a small piece of the history of my school. I don't remember any Christmas traditions like this from when I was there, but to be honest most of the student body emptied out at the end of the semester for winter break, and the days before that exodus occurred were filled with final exams and college football. Unlike the last double album Dickens, this version takes up all four sides, but it does pad things out with some songs. I tried to edit everything into it's own track so you can skip the music if you like, but there's still a little bit of overlap. Go Gators and listen to Lester L. Hale & Norwood Singers-Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" (Sterling Productions 2xLP SP 111075, Stereo, 1974). As far as I know, this concludes the Charles Dickens portion of this year's sharity. Hope you enjoyed the retelling of the only Christmas ghost story that I'm aware of.

I didn't know either, I looked it up. Basically sections or chapters. One of those words that's become archaic.

Speaking of sections or chapters, I was looking at a Kingsmen (Southern Gospel quartet) album I have, somewhere, on Youtube, the other day and their chapters (ahem) were kinda strange and in some cases, outright wrong, but that's what you get, when AI does it all. Oh and while I'm here, as well, when I mentioned your last one looking interesting to me, I was referring to your forth post of the day. DeleteThat's so cool! I love those kind of connections. I've been slowly collecting Christmas records from Columbus, Ohio where I grew up and finally found a choir album from my high school over the summer.

DeleteOh yeah, it was pretty good, though immediately I realized I don't think I've ever heard the story told with such an American accent before.
DeleteInteresting choice to make the Ghost of Christmas Past sound like some kind of monster, but otherwise good.
I imagine it's a bit of work to differentiate all the characters from each other. And Americans like Dickens, too! :)
