Not Modern Sound, But Close

In my last post I mentioned another LP that featured Buddy & Bunny Burden, and this is it. It's not on Modern Sound, but instead it's on Halo, which seemed to have inherited all the masters from Modern Sound, or maybe they just changed their name. This LP isn't much better than the stuff we've seen from Modern Sound, but the Buddy & Bunny tracks are pretty good. You can read more about it from the first time I posted it in 2006, if you'd like. If all you want to do is download it, then here is A Family Christmas Album-Something For Everybody (Halo 1007, Stereo).

1. Bobby Russell-The Christmas Song
2. The Singleton Singers-12 Days Of Christmas
3. Buddy & Bunny Burden-Christmas Card
4. J.T. Adams And The Jordanaires-It's Christmas Time
5. Bill Purcell-Silent Night
6. Bobby Russell And The Music City Boys Chorus-Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
7. Prissy Reed, Margie Singleton And Ray Walker With The Jordanaires-Jingle Bells
8. Buddy & Bunny Burden-Christmas Polka
9. The Music City Choir-Deck The Halls
10. Don Les' Harmonicats-Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

  1. I've got the J.T. Adams 78 I'll be sharing out at the Fa a little later in the season. You know, if anybody's interested.

  2. That scratchy J.T. Adams track is a mystery in that (as far as I know) it's from the Word label.

And dubbed from a highly used Word LP, sounds like!

  3. The 78 I have is on Republic. I just did a side-by-side of the 78 and the track from Ernie's share. It sounds pretty much like the pops and clicks and scratches are all in the same places. It might be that's what it sounded like when they issued it. I'm serious. This is the first time I've ever downloaded the track and it's uncanny how alike the pops and clicks sound.

The music sounds a bit richer, but that could be the noise reduction on Ernie's (if he used it). I dunno, I kind of thought it sounded pretty good for a hunk of shellac that's 6 years older than I am.

The flip is a nice, reverential (gospel-ish?) ballad with soaring backing from the Jordanaires. If the noise on the one track bothers you, though, you're not going to be any happier with the other side.

Oh, btw, I also have a better transfer of the Line Material single, but I haven't had a chance to pull it up yet. You're 80 steps ahead of me, Lee.

  4. I've been wanting this album for a long time. I have the 8 track, but no player. I used to listen to this so many years ago! It was fun to find it here on your blog! Now how do I download it, because when I click on the link it takes me to another website, but I don't know what to do there.
    THanks!
    Natlie
