Felix (Not Unger)

How's this for a nice rerun? I don't know how much you dig through old piles of vinyl, but I do, and I always like to find these old gatefold record sleeves with the hole cut in them so you can see something on the inside. Many of Felix Slatkin's records on Liberty were like that, and this one is no exception. Only on this one, the die-cutter seems to have missed the mark, and you get a big ring of plain white around the hole that should have been cut-out more carefully. But you just care about he music, right? No problem, if you missed it the first time around in 2006, here is The Fantastic Strings Of Felix Slatkin-Season's Greetings (Liberty Premier Series LSS 14013, Stereo, 1961).

1. White Christmas
2. God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen
3. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
4. Joy To The World
5. O Holy Night
6. Adeste Fideles (O Come All Ye Faithful)
7. Deck The Halls
8. It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
9. The First Noel
10. I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day
11. Away In A Manger
12. Silent Night

Oh, I shared a different cover for this one back in 2007, if you're interested.

  1. I like the alternate cover, but shouldn't this be Felix(not Oscar)?

  3. For the record, it happens that track 10 is mistitled on all issues and reissues. Istead of "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day", it should be "O Come Little Children" or "Ihr Kinderlein Kommet".
