Paul For Christmas

Here's some more great sound from France that I know you are going to love. I released this last year, but I found a better copy during the past twelve months. I rerecorded it, did a little bit of noise reduction on it, and encoded it at a slightly higher bitrate. There are still some weak spots here and there, but it's still a great listen. I think you're really going to love Paul Mauriat And His Orchestra-The Christmas Album (Philips PHS 600-255, 1967).

  1. Hi, Ernie.

Because of you (and the King over at FaLaLaLaLa.com) I finally broke down and bought a CD burner for my computer. I linked to you from him after a Google search for the Living Trio led me there. I am amazed at what you guys have done for us kooky Christmas collectors.

This album from Paul Mauriat is a great example of stuff that isn't on CD that should be. I got this from e-bay last year and dubbed it staright to CD...I have no program, just put on Mini-Disc then transferred it to CD. I now have a MUCH cleaner copy thanks to you.

I did notice that your date listed is 1970. According to the amazing Joel Whitburn book "Christmas In the Charts", it actually came out in 1967.

Thank you again for your hard work. I just downloaded 5 albums from your site in the last 2 hours. If I didn't have to work tomorrow morning it'd be a lot more.

    Your fellow Christmas music lover,

  2. Thanks for the comment, Puckwheat. I don't know why I put that 1970 date up there. In the actual MP3 files, I have the correct date of 1967, or at least I do on the copies I have on my PC. I changed the post, too. There's enough bad info out there on the internet without me adding to it.

I used to put stuff on minidisc before recording it to the PC, but once you get the right equipment, it's much easier to record straight from vinyl. I've still got a backlog of minidiscs from 6 years ago that I never got around to ripping onto the PC. :)

  3. I just picked this up last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Paul Mauriat can be awfully treacly and cheesy much of the time, but this has restrained, enjoyable arrangements.
