Not sure of the title. But here are the exact lyrics. My brother found a scratchy cassette tape that my father had made off a vinyl around 50 years ago, so I listened and typed the lyrics. It sounds a bit like Bing Crosby on a 78.

This song was like a school bell reminding us to gather in the living room on Christmas morning, to open presents. (My mom and dad had stayed up half the night before: mom preparing turkey, dad wrapping presents with corners precisely folded.)

Dad would put on the record. We'd gather, holding hands and sing this song. Mom and Dad, alas, are gone, but dearly missed. Here's to Christmas memories of our past as kids, and a big thank you to parents who made the season bright, and to you who are keeping the flame alive.

Would you please consider posting the following on your blog? Someone out there may be able to help those of us who are searching.

When I learn how, I will send you, via internet, a copy of the cassette recording which has been transferred to a CD.

Thanks for an interesting blog. I just discovered you a few days ago. What a labor of love! I'll keep watching. And have a Merry Christmas yourself.
Adrienne

WHAT IS THIS SONG? It would have been played on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, enticing all to gather and share presents around the tree.

Title: All Around the Christmas Tree or ???
Artist: Sounds a lot like Bing Crosby
Year: 1940s? 1950s?

Lyrics:
Little boys, little girls don't delay,
This is your Merry Christmas day.
Come along, join the family,
and gather around, all around the Christmas tree.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, cling, clang, cling.
Plum puddin', toys and everything.
Old Saint Nick may be there for tea,
So gather around, all around the Christmas tree.

Mother, Dad and brother Bill,
Cousin Jack and Uncle Will,
Grandma and your Grandpa, too,
Awaiting around the Christmas tree for you.

1st time:
Little boys, little girls, hand in hand,
Hop, skip and jump to fairyland.
Santa Claus comes but once a year,
He's comin' around the chimney,
(instrumental of four beats)
Comin' right down the chimney,
(instrumental of four beats)
He's comin' around, all around the Christmas tree.

2nd time:
Little boys, little girls, hand in hand,
Hop, skip and jump to fairyland.
Santa Claus comes but once a year,
He's comin' around the chimney,
(instrumental of 4 beats)
Comin' right down the chimney,
(instrumental: of 4 beats)
He's comin' around, he's comin' around,
All around the Christmas tree.
Ding!
