The notes of this release are entirely in English, which suggests that the record was produced for sale during a tour of either the UK or US. The latest date specified in the notes is 1970, so perhaps it was made in the early 70s.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think about that... Could be aimed directly at US servicemen serving in Germany, maybe? Or like you say, a tour.
DeleteBuster, sounds very likely. There were a lot of missions and the like... that put out albums, in speaking and or singing in order to reach out to those in East Germany. So, this could be a way of advocating.
DeleteI like to imagine that copies were smuggled to the East, but I have no idea. My uncle-in-law told me that East German classical records were cheap and plentiful, so that's what he would spend his mandatory exchanged money on.
