Oh Delaware, My Delaware

As near as I can tell, this is the first record I've ever shared from the small state of Delaware. I almost went to Delaware once when I was on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake in Maryland, but I wound up not doing it. Too many things competing for my time in the area, including all of the museums of the Smithsonian in nearby Washington, DC. Adding one small state to my life list wasn't nearly as appealing as seeing our nation's treasures. Anyhow, as I think I've mentioned a few times this long season, I gave a lot of thought to trying to share a Christmas record that came from each state in the union. There are lots of states I couldn't find, but I did record quite a few before I gave up and this is one of those. From the University of Delaware in Newark (No, not the one in NJ, this is about 108 miles SW of that one), this is University Of Delaware Choral Organizations-Carols And Noels (Ken-Del LP S5582, Stereo). The keen-eyed visitors will notice there is a song listed in the tracklisting that turns out to have not been pressed into the vinyl. New Year's Carol by the Women's Chamber Ensemble appears to have been cut from the lineup after the label and sleeves had been printed. Oh, well.

    Interesting note about Newark, NJ vs Newark, DE: They are pronounced differently. The NJ city is pronounced "Newerk," with a soft "e" sound, while the DE city is pronounced "New-Ark," almost like two separate words, with "ark" pronounced as in "Noah's Ark."

    There's a Newark in Ohio, too, just east of Columbus. Don't know how they pronounce the name.

      People from that part of Ohio pronounce it "Nerk", or so I have been informed.

      I have not listened to it yet. I still have 4 more of the USAF shares to get through.
      So, it is in my new mp3 transfer folder. I should listen to it on Saturday. I will let you know then.

      Maybe you can surprise us one day as you go through your stacks for next year with more US military albums. Theses were really nice to great to my ears. I have, to my knowledge downloaded all you had shared so far.

      At least these are the ones I could track down.

      So many records, I can't even keep track of them anymore. I feel like there were a couple of radio shows of a different sort one year, but I can't think of the name of them at the moment. If I think of it I'll mention it.


      And do you really convert all these FLAC files to MP3 or are you just saying that out of habit?

    Any FLAC file I convert to MP3 @ 360. My current devices only play MP3s. My FLAC device fell in water.
    If I have more than one folder, I convert them all at one time.
    They then go back into the folders they came from, then I delete the FLAC out of the folders.
    I can do it really fast now.

      I'm sure it's quick, but it's a pain. Treat yourself to a new device, you deserve it. Even my car plays FLAC files now. It's not documented that it does anywhere, but I put them in, they play just fine. It's weird.

    Well all the OTR shows are MP3. Any other area I get music from are MP3.
    But you are right. I miss my Flac device. It was just a few Euros more than the MP3 devices.
    Easter is coming up. A few clients are asking what the Easter Bunny can bring me. Maybe, I will give them this hint.

      Well Ernie, I finally listened to this while shopping. It was a standout, like several others, you so kindly have continued offering after the main event, so to speak.
      Another album worth a re-listen.
