Up next, it's a family affair on a nice little religious record that attracted me with the cover. I buy so many records based on the cover that you might say I judge the records by their cover. You're probably not suppose to do that, but my only other option would be to carry a record player with me everywhere I go, and that just doesn't seem very feasible. This one is enjoyable enough, but it's not really anything special. I've shared so many of these religious records this season that they have all tended to run together. I remember at least one of them featured a moog on a couple of tracks, but I can't for the life of me remember which one it was. I figured someone would chime in about it during the season, but no one said anything. I remember it playing at random at some point and I had to go see what it was. Wish now I'd made a note about it. Anyhow, if you're still around at this late date, this is
The Farr Family With The Sunday Strings-
For Unto Us A Child Is Born-Alleluia (Hymntone Records HPS 7716, Stereo, 1974). Enjoy!
1. Gloria
2. Excerpt From Gloria In Excelsis
3. Silent Night
4. A Gift Of Love
5. Away In A Manger
6. Do You Hear What I Hear?
7. Carol Of The Star
8. Alleluia
9. Jesus Bambino
10. The Little Drummer Boy
11. In The Bleak Mid-Winter
MEGA
Interesting. Seems like a family affair. A gift to the family for Christmas?
ReplyDeleteI like the titles you sometimes give them, but who is Jamie???
Jamie Farr, he played Corp. Klinger on MASH.
Deleteoh, I have heard of it.
Deletei only know of the disco single "mash" they say is from the movie. i have the mp3 of it somewhere...to me it was not dancable.
You need to watch the movie if you get a chance. Jamie Farr is not in that, but if you like the movie, you might enjoy the TV show.
DeleteErnie, this season's music download folder shows this post as #323. Woo-wee gosh! Thank you so very kindly for all your hard work, and many MANY thanks to all the commenting participants that are filling in the blanks. Big musical happy all around!
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous, glad to know this count. But where do you find out this information?
DeleteI had figured Ernie may have shared close to 400? I only collected, maybe 280 or so. I could not have imagined that 120 or so I passed over? Some I do pass over, but not 120 of them?
That count sounds about right. I don't have a good count myself, I just post and post and post. :)
DeleteBryan, check your math, you only missed about 40...
hahaa, math and science were my worst subjects. this is why i only graduated from senior high school with a 3.8.
DeleteFor years (and years, since 2005?), every time I download a share from Ernie, I add a three-digit number at the front of the file name. I also capture all the verbiage from Ernie and all the commenters, to provide context (and laughs).
DeleteIf a share doesn't include an audio download, I sometimes capture the text, but not always.
Thus, I can go back through my Ernie archive and check the numbering to see what I myself have downloaded.
• 2023 - 282 downloads, 6 Jan 2024
• 2020 - 81 downloads, 7 Feb 2021
• 2018 - 308 DL, 6 Jan 2019
and so on.
There's the occasional download from Lee in there that might skew the numbers 'cuz my BIG TEN INCH
folders are inconsistent.
DeleteYou're far more dedicated than I am!
Deletevery interesting to hear that system. now it makes a bit more sense to me.
DeleteAnother religious family, I didn't know about. Will have to give them a listen :)
ReplyDeleteI feel like there's an endless well of these recordings...
DeleteAnother deep crate dig entry! You seem to find Christmas records I never even heard of or even seen in the thrift stores!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was single, I spent an enormous amount of time in the thrift stores, junk stores, record stores, wherever I thought I could find some old records. Can't do that so much anymore, but I have a lot of backlog to work through. :)
