Handel Two

If that last electronic version of The Messiah wasn't enough for you, how about a slightly psychedelic version? This actually came out on Columbia Masterworks, right alongside all sorts of classical music and operas. It was a different time, and I guess they were trying. This is Revelation Philharmonic Orchestra And The One Experience Choir-The New Messiah (Columbia KC/AL 31713, Stereo, 1972). Beautiful gatefold sleeve with this one, too. You can see it in the download. I keep looking at that cover and wonder if there's any sort of hidden subliminal imagery that I haven't spotted yet. It's just too insane to not be hiding something.

    I listened to some of this, and it is to say the least different.

      No punk rock, but i did have a hard rock version. It had recently gotten a CD reissue so I shelved it.

      Can't remember the name, David Somebody. Axelrod maybe? Very plain white cover with an embossed cross, I think. Hard to remember. OK, my memory is better than I thought it was...

    I know that Word or Reunion Records released "Young Messiah" in the 1990s.

    Will have to give this a listen :)
