You had me at King's College Choir. I'm a Brit and to me this choir is Christmas music! King's is the home of 'Nine Lessons and Carols' on Christmas Eve afternoon. I've got a page on the history of Nine Lessons and Carols over on my Christmas info site; and back in 2014, one of the King's staff was kind enough to take part in an interview with me explaining what happened in and around the service: https://www.whychristmas.com/customs/carols-nine-lessons-and-carols Willcocks' arrangements of many carols are now often the 'standard' ones used in carols services around the world. So you can get to a World of Christmas by that at least ;)
ReplyDeleteI just wish I could have found the second one... :(
DeleteGreat record - I am very fond of the King's sound. I have visited the so-called "chapel" - it's a very large and grand church - and heard the choir live. One of my favorite musical memories.
ReplyDeleteNice!!
DeleteAnother magical Chorale album. Why should it not be, when you have one of the greatest Choir's in the world. Quality in all respects shines through.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly seem to know what they are doing! :)
